Bond, James Bond
Posted on June 7, 2011
I’ve been on a kick where I try to watch all the films of a series, even if some of the films are considered bad. When comparing a film to other films, comparisons are easier if they are part of the same series. In the English-speaking world, the James Bond series is probably the grand daddy of them all. At the moment (in 2011), it has 22 official films, plus another on the way, and some unofficial films, as well.
With so many films in the series, it’s been hard to keep track of which ones I’ve seen versus which one I haven’t, so over the past few months I’ve made it a point to watch each one on DVD. One thing I’ve noticed, and it’s not too surprising, is that many of the title sequences are a bit risque, which they don’t show on the edited-for-TV versions.
Listed below are all the Review Haiku posts on the official and unofficial James Bond films:
- Dr. No
- From Russia with Love
- Goldfinger
- Thunderball
- You Only Live Twice
- On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
- Diamonds are Forever
- Live and Let Die
- The Man with the Golden Gun
- The Spy Who Love Me
- Moonraker
- For Your Eyes Only
- Octopussy
- A View to a Kill
- The Living Daylights
- Licence to Kill
- GoldenEye
- Tomorrow Never Dies
- The World is Not Enough
- Die Another Day
- Casino Royale (2006)
- Quantum of Solace
- Never Say Never Again*
- Casino Royale (1967)*
- Casino Royale (1954)*
* unofficial
I don’t have a favorite, but I think Goldfinger, For Your Eyes Only, and GoldenEye are probably the best. The worst of them being A View To a Kill and Die Another Day.

Not an evil plot
Just a little smuggling
Drugs, guns, diamonds
No place to set down…
Except for this empty road…
Or the nice runway
