Cyberpunk is a genre of literature and film where beings are created to resemble or act like humans to some degree, or where humans are physically transformed by technology in some way. Some examples or the former are Lt. Data from the television show Star Trek: The Next Generation, replicants from the film Blade Runner, and mechas from the film A.I., while examples of the latter include Darth Vader from the Star Wars series of films, and Neo from The Matrix series of films.
Cyberpunk stories typically, but not always, take place in a dystopic setting. There are also subgenres, which include biopunk and steampunk.
