Wimps

People here in Indy seem to get all worked up over snow. Even the “threat” of snow sends them flurry of worry (pun intended, laugh). As an example, tonight, we are supposed to get some snow. Reports say anywhere from 3″ – 10″ by rush hour tomorrow.

A lady at work, her daughters’ school is already cancelled. Not a flake has fallen and school is already cancelled. This same school didn’t cancel last December when we had a “big” snowstorm. Their website says the kids won’t have to make it up because there are a couple of snow days built into the calendar. I guess they are letting them off tomorrow because they didn’t in December, and since it is March, it’s unlikely we will get enough snow after this week to warrant a school closure.

I walked around downtown some after work and saw a bunch of sidewalks already had salt on them. I guess the maintenance workers are just being prepared, although I saw one building that took this to an extreme. From the opposite side of the street where I was walking, it looked like the sidewalk was already covered in snow. It was almost totally white. But when a lady started to walk across it, I could hear the gritty, crunching sound as she walked on the salt.

All the people at work were worried what the traffic will be like tomorrow. No worries from me, though. I have the day off already for Adventures in Dentistry, pt 3. Tomorrow afternoon I’m supposed to get the tooth pulled and a bone graft put in. Tomorrow morning I plan on going to the license branch and getting my state ID renewed.

Since I don’t drive, I don’t have a license, but I have a state ID for those occassions when I need a form of ID, like flying. I will be going to Arizona in a few weeks for a conference, and since my ID is expired over a year, and since I don’t want the “special treatment,” I figured I should get it renewed. I figured it’s likely I will have to spend a few hour at the license branch, so I figured I would do it on a day I’m getting dental work done. Of course, it’s probably better to get the photo taken before the procedure than after. Getting the photo after the dental work, would be memorable to say the least. Bloody lips and a mouth full of gauze. LOL.
