With the renovations underway, I decided it might be a nice idea to try to move some traffic to this site. Right now most of my traffic seems to come from family, or from people searching for specific topics. I recently got an email from someone who was going through some similar dental problems. It was a funny note, and it kinda boosted my blogging ego. I was amazed that someone actually read the site :-D
So for the past few hours, I’ve been signing up my site at some blog directories, and I’ve been browsing some other people’s blogs. Most of the one I’ve checked out are in Indiana, but I did check out some other ones from around the world. I even saw one from some 30 y.o. female in Japan who is posting in English and Japanese to help her practice her English. Sounds like a good idea. Maybe I’ll dust off my Japanese texts and try something similar…or maybe not. Anyway, I will probably end up posting some sort of blogroll once I figure out how I want the site setup.
It did occur to me that blogging might be some sort of voyueristic/exhibitionistic thing. Slightly. I know I don’t post everything that goes on in my life here. Not because my life is mundane (it is), but because it’s none of your business :-P Still, it does open up my life to viewing by others, so I suppose there is a little bit of mental exhibitionism going on. Plus, writing is supposed to be good therapy. I don’t think I need therapy, but I appreciate the therapuetic effects I get from writing. Sometimes it feels good to rant, or ramble, or just peck at the keyboard.
Oh well.
As part of the renovations, I googled for some coffee bean images and found one I liked, which I promptly turned into a cool header graphic for the site. It’s too late tonight (2:30 am) so I will put it up tomorrow after work – probably. I can do that easily enough, but I will still have a lot of CSS work to get the site all prettified, so that will be an ongoing process.
I was just fooling around with the new WordPress and found out I can add separate pages to the posts. An interesting feature. Maybe I’ll go back and add that to some of the longer posts. Then again, I’m pretty lazy.
